Protecting people and the planet through the power of sport and activity #HealthyPlanet #HealthyPeople

We had a moment of clarity in July 2018.

Our charity had just finished hosting a multi-sports event for young people across Southwest England. In clearing up, we had crates of unused single-use plastic water bottles, unallocated medals imported from 6000 miles away and generators chugging away on fossil fuels.

We suddenly became aware that our charity was not addressing the concerns of young people around the environment.

Climate change is real - and we had to get real too.

But we also passionately believe in the power of sport and physical activity in people’s lives. Sport has a unique ability to mobilise people and lead the way for social action. Exactly what is needed to address climate change.

So, the Planet Earth Games was created, bringing together sport, sustainability, health and wellbeing, social connectivity, conservation, and climate action in an innovative model. Since 2019, we have delivered events, activities and experiences in-person and online that have empowered thousands of people of all ages to connect to nature, take climate action and support their wellbeing.

From 2023, we have launched our new website which allows people to measure their progress by scoring points and earning badges while taking challenges that support a sustainable and active lifestyle.

We believe in:

  • The symbiotic relationship between human health & environmental health – if people are better connected with the natural environment, they are more motivated to preserve the environment and reap all the wellbeing benefits from being in and around nature
  • Sustainability is fun  it is enjoyable both in discovering and maintaining new eco-friendly habits
  • Everybody can play a part – we encourage change, we don’t berate people, we are inclusive and accessible and welcome everyone to make a positive difference

Take part as an individual, create a team or sign up with your workplace or place of education and make a difference.
