Planet Earth Games will be expanding for 2022, with a full season of challenges running from January through to October. Following three highly successful month-long events in August 2020, February 2021 and August 2021, next year will see the Planet Earth Games evolving into more of a year-round presence to reach a wider audience with more significant long-term outcomes.
Since launching a virtual model in the pandemic, Planet Earth Games has reached 1.5m people online and inspired people towards more active and sustainable behaviours. 82% of participants have learned something new about sustainability and 64% have been more active. The new format for 2022 will see every month themed, kicking off with Veganuary in….yes, you guessed, January.
Each month will have four weekly challenges around that month’s theme. Planet Earth Games founder Chris Broadbent said: “We have been thrilled with the success of Planet Earth Games in the last 18 months, but like our incredible participants, we must always strive to improve and do that bit better for the environment.
“So, we listened to the feedback of our participants and have broadened our challenges across the year to help open up Planet Earth Games to even more people. By engaging more people into Planet Earth Games, together we can all nurture positive habits and make a more impactful contribution towards environmental sustainability.”
“In the coming weeks, we will be revealing more about the challenges ahead of next year and the partners we are working with who share our ethos. But we can promise another brilliant set of challenges and a lot of fun along the way.”
