High achievers from world of sport and science have been confirmed as ambassadors for the Planet Earth Games in the New Year. February’s month-long event follows up from August’s highly successful Planet Earth Games which reached over 800,000 people.

Planet Earth Games consists of a series of daily, sustainable virtual challenges set by ambassadors and brand partners who share our ethos of educating, influencing and inspiring people into more active, sustainable lives.

The Planet Earth Games are free to participate in for all the community and are suitable for all ages and abilities. Examples of challenges include vegan cookery, wild swimming, running, litter picking, wildlife photography, sustainable crafts. There are daily prizes available for randomly selected winners and a special sustainable medal for anyone who successfully completes 10 challenges:

Ambassadors already confirmed for February 2021 include:

• Lauren Smith – Olympic badminton player and winner of 14 international badminton medals, including European gold
• Matthew Shribman – Social Media influencer in science and environmentalism, a BBC Learning Expert, TEDxLondon speaker with 1st Class Oxford MChem
• Kathy Butler – US-based twice Olympian who has represented GB, Scotland and GB at multiple track, road and cross country internationals. US National Coach
• Joe Cooke – First class cricketer for Glamorgan
• Saskia Sills – GB sailing team and winner of the Youth World Championship, aiming to represent Team GB in windsurfing at Paris 2024 Olympics
• Shirley Addison  – Olympic and Commonwealth Games hammer thrower, who was also ‘Battleaxe’ in the UK Gladiators
• Fiona Oakes – Winner of both the North Pole and Antarctic Ice Marathon and holder of the world record aggregate time for completing a marathon on each continent
